What's a Moolon Lily?

Moolon Lily...

This month's SVBAQ block was Moolon Lily. Honestly, I'm not sure what a "moolon lily" is, so I performed many types of searches to see if I could uncover any information....I was not lucky in my discovery searches, so the mystery remains.

My entire quilt is being sewn using batiks and I decided to make the leaves on this block both green and blue for a different look. I am still practicing my needle turn applique; I'll perfect it one day. This block was all hand sewn.

So how do you all determine how long one block takes to sew? I estimated this block was 3 days to complete.  Not 3 consecutive days, but say I start sewing at 7PM and don't finish an area until about 2AM; then pick it up from 10AM to 3PM and so on...and in between do the laundry, vacuum, clean the dishes, etc.  I mean...I guess I just sew really slow.. HAHAH

Funniest thing I heard while sewing this block...That looks so easy, you'll be done with that by the end of the day, right? (side ways look.....Probably NOT)

If you squint REALLY hard, there is a hidden tiny baseball in this block. Well, my version of a baseball anyway.
Still not too late to join in on the fun!  You can still purchase your pattern through the quilt museum and join the sew along journey with everyone..

  1. Your block turned out beautiful!
O.m.gosh... I SEE the baseball - how awesome!
Regarding the "done by day's end comment... hand that person a needle and thread! (grin)
Even the simplest of these blocks take most of us several days to complete.

  2. I see the baseball! Very clever.
I make it a point not to time myself, I'd rather not know how long I've been sitting.
    Your block is lovely! Congratulations.
